Parent Code of Conduct:At Nashville Fútbol Club, we strive to be a club that not only excels in soccer but also connects with our families, community, and instills essential values and positive character traits in our players. We recognize the significance of nurturing individuals with the highest integrity, effective communication skills, and confidence, traits that extend far beyond the realm of soccer. As a Parent at Nashville Fútbol Club, I commit to: Be encouraging, supportive, and affirmative regarding my child’s participation on the soccer field, emphasizing the importance of doing one’s best over winning. Respect officials and accept their decisions, acknowledging that they are someone else’s son or daughter. Familiarize myself with the Laws of the Game. Encourage my son or daughter to always play by the rules and resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence. Support the players and coaches of Nashville Fútbol Club. Acknowledge that children participate in sports for enjoyment, emphasizing that the game is for them, not the adults. Applaud good plays by both our team and members of the opposing team. Encourage my child to be gracious in victory and courteous in defeat. Treat all coaches, players, game officials, administrators, and opposing fans with respect, irrespective of race, sex, creed, or ability. Comply with the Rules, Policies, and Procedures (including Financial Commitment) of the Team and Nashville Fútbol Club. Refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practice unless I am one of the official coaches of the team. Discuss my son or daughter’s status on the team only with the Coach at a time and place mutually agreed upon, avoiding discussions prior to, during, or directly after a game. Communicate with my child’s coach about any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or others. Make every effort to ensure my child attends all training sessions and games, notifying the coach if they will be late or absent. Be prompt when picking up my child. Volunteer my time, talent, and services to the Club when possible. Participate in Outreach Opportunities when asked. Be a positive role model for my child, representing Nashville Fútbol Club with Character, Integrity, Commitment, and Sportsmanship at all times.
-
Practices: Supporting Preparation and FocusWe request that parents ensure their child arrives on time and is fully prepared for practice sessions. This includes having all the necessary equipment such as cleats, practice shirts, shin guards, water, and a soccer ball. During practices, we ask parents to maintain a respectful distance, allowing our coaches the freedom to instruct and teach without distractions. By providing this space, we enable our coaches to focus on the individual development of each player and enhance the overall progress of the team.
-
Games: Encouraging Enjoyment and GrowthGames are a crucial opportunity for players to put into action what they have learned during practice sessions. We encourage parents to approach game days with the same enjoyment and enthusiasm as attending a theater production or concert. In the realm of sports, mistakes are inevitable and an essential part of the learning process. It is important that parents refrain from dwelling on these mistakes, as excessive focus can create unnecessary pressure on players. Instead, let's support our children in their efforts, cheer for their achievements, and celebrate the joy of playing the game together.
-
Referees: Promoting Respect and UnderstandingAt our club, we emphasize the importance of respect for officials as an integral part of the game. Referees, like players, are human and have their own unique perspective during matches. We teach our players to adapt to the officiating style and learn from it. Blaming officials for a lost game is counterproductive, as victory often depends on our own actions on the field. It is crucial that parents refrain from yelling at referees or becoming overwhelmed by technical calls. Remember, officials will not listen to fans. Our coaches are trained to address any concerns with referees in a respectful manner, particularly when it comes to player safety. The game of soccer is a contact sport, which means that fouls and aggressive plays are going to happen, so let’s not be shocked when they happen. Players can learn so many valuable lessons through the engagement of a sport like this.
-
Coaching: Encouraging Player AutonomyOne of our fundamental principles is to cultivate an environment where players can learn the valuable skill of problem-solving as a cohesive team. We believe that players should have the opportunity to navigate the challenges of the game together, alongside their coach. To achieve this, we request that parents refrain from coaching their children from the sidelines during games. While we understand that parents have their children's best interests at heart, the abundance of voices and instructions can create confusion for players. We want to ensure that players can focus on the strategies and techniques they have learned during practice sessions, rather than being torn between conflicting instructions. By allowing our players the space to make decisions and adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the game, they can develop crucial problem-solving skills that will serve them both on and off the field. We encourage parents to be their child's biggest cheerleaders, providing unwavering support and encouragement from the sidelines, but allowing the coaching to be left in the capable hands of our experienced and dedicated coaches. By refraining from sideline coaching, parents can foster an atmosphere of trust and unity, empowering our players to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and discover their own solutions to game scenarios. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every parent who joins us on this exciting journey. Your presence, support, and active participation are invaluable to the success of our club and the well-being of your child. As ambassadors of our club, we encourage you to embrace the responsibility of representing us with pride, respect, and sportsmanship. Together, let's create a positive and uplifting environment where our players can flourish, our officials can perform their duties impartially, and our club can be a shining example of excellence and camaraderie. We eagerly anticipate a remarkable season ahead and the opportunity to create lasting memories together. Thank you for being a part of our soccer family!
